How to Increase Your EPC Rating Under RdSAP 10
If you’re a homeowner or landlord in Southport, Liverpool, West Lancashire or across Merseyside, improving your EPC rating doesn’t have to mean expensive renovations.
Under the latest RdSAP 10 conventions, there are simple, cost-effective upgrades that can add valuable SAP points and potentially move your property from an E to a D — or even into a C rating.

1️⃣ Loft Insulation to 270mm
Cost: £300–£600
Typical SAP Gain: +5 to +12 points
Many properties locally still have only 100mm insulation. Topping up to 270mm is one of the cheapest ways to boost your rating.
2️⃣ Upgrade to 100% LED Lighting
Cost: £50–£150
SAP Gain: +1 to +3 points
Small change — but sometimes just enough to cross into the next band.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am looking for advice on improving my property’s EPC rating and would like to work with an assessor who can help me understand the most cost-effective route to achieving a C rating.
The property currently has an EPC rating of D (score 65), although the certificate is from 2018. Since then, I have replaced all the single-glazed windows with double glazing and also replaced the front and rear doors.
Before carrying out any further works, I would like to understand which improvements would have the biggest impact on the EPC score. I would like to agree on a practical plan, complete the recommended works, and then arrange for a new EPC assessment once everything is finished.
